Referrals
How referral attribution works, what counts as a confirmed referral, and edge cases to be aware of.
How tracking works
When someone clicks your referral link (?ref=YOURCODE), we store your referral code in a first-party cookie on their browser. If they create a paid account within 30 days, the referral is credited to you.
The referral is confirmed once the client completes their first paid subscription payment. Free plan sign-ups are not counted as referrals.
Cookie window
The referral cookie lasts 30 days from the first click. If the client clicks your link on day 1 and pays on day 29, it counts. If they pay on day 31, it does not.
Last-click attribution
We use last-click attribution. If a client clicks multiple referral links (from different partners), the most recent click within 30 days wins.
What counts as a confirmed referral
- Client clicked your referral link within 30 days of signing up
- Client completed a paid subscription (Growth, Pro, or Business)
- First payment was successful
What does not count
- Free plan sign-ups
- Existing Pulse Support users (already in the system before clicking your link)
- Sign-ups where the cookie expired before payment
- Your own sign-up
Sharing your link
Your referral link is always:
https://pulsesupport.co.za/auth/signup?ref=YOURCODE
You can also just share your code and tell people to enter it at sign-up. Both methods work.
